» Diet enacted a revised law to give state-backed fund for dealing with also decomissioning

The Diet enacted a revised law that will give a state-backed fund dealing with compensation issues related to the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant disaster the additional task of engaging in work to decommission the plant.

The revamped entity will be launched possibly this summer, a move that is expected to increase state involvement in the task of scrapping reactors that have suffered meltdowns and tackling the buildup of highly radioactive water at the plant.
