» Victims of the nuclear disaster filed lawsuit against the central government and TEPCO

1650 people filed lawsuits against the central government and Tokyo Electric Power Co. on March 11th 2013, the second anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake that caused the nuclear accident in Fukushima.

This is the first lawsuit related to the accident at the Fukushima No. 1 plant in which the central government was named as a defendant.The plaintiffs are demanding 5.36 billion yen as compensation in damages and the restoration of the environment, arguing the nuclear crisis harmed their health and communities. This case was filed with the Fukushima, Chiba and Tokyo district courts.
