» “The Great East Japan Earthquake and Japanese NGOs” report

JANIC put out reports about the Japan Earthquake below.

The Great East Japan Earthquake was the largest disaster since World War II. After we witnessed the horrifying devastation, we couldn’t stop asking ourselves what we could do. March 11, 2011 was a new start for many Japanese NGOs for International Cooperation, to question their own roles and capacities. .

We, at the Japan NGO Center for International Cooperation (JANIC), sent a study mission immediately after the earthquake and began initiatives. We considered our mission is to provide backup support to other NGOs through such things as sharing information, and providing of funds. So, for each individual NGO, what kind of activities did they undertake, and what were their targets? From emergency relief to reconstruction assistance the activities of 17 NGOs were recorded. .
