The Nuclear Regulation Authority will delay unveiling a draft report on restarting two reactors at a plant in southwestern Japan that was initially planned for this week.
NRA had sought to present the draft to its decision-making panel at a meeting July 9th. But it has judged that more work is required for the evaluation of measures to deal with severe accidents proposed by plant operator Kyushu Electric Power Co., the sources said.
Once finalized, the report will give the green light for the operator to reactivate its two-reactor Sendai plant in Kagoshima Prefecture, which is the closest to meeting a set of new safety standards introduced after the 2011 Fukushima nuclear crisis.
