» Human errors caused wrong transferring of contaminated water

TEPCO reported to Nuclear Reguratory Agency that human errors likely caused a recent incident in which highly radioactive water was sent into the wrong building at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear complex.

According to TEPCO, workers may have erroneously turned on water transfer pumps when they were trying to activate air-conditioning equipment on March 20 inside two buildings, including the one to which the water was misdirected.

The switches for the pumps and air conditioning are located in the same power distribution board but were not specifically labeled.
