» Japan’s House of Representatives passed nuclear pacts with Turkey and UAE

Japan’s House of Representatives on April 4th passed two nuclear pacts with Turkey and the United Arab Emirates that would lead Japan to export nuclear power infrastructure to the two countries.

The agreements, both concluded last year, would come into force by early May under the Constitution, which stipulates that lower house decisions on state budgets and bilateral treaties prevail in the Diet.

Members of the governing Liberal Democratic party, New Komeito party, and the main opposition Democratic Party of Japan voted for the pacts.
