» Local fishermen finally agreed dump groundwater from Fukushima Daiichi to the Pacific

A local fishermen’s organization on March 25th decided to allow TEPCO to dump groundwater at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear complex into the Pacific on condition that the water is clean enough for release.

The measure is expected to slow the pace of increase of toxic water at the plant, as groundwater will be pumped up before it gets mixed with highly radioactive water accumulating in the basement of reactor buildings.
