» Former president of steelmaker will become chairman from April

TEPCO announced that Fumio Sudo, a former president of steelmaker JFE Holdings Inc., will become chairman of the struggling utility on April 1, replacing Kazuhiko Shimokobe.

Sudo, 72, is considered by the government as a suitable successor because of his wealth of experience in corporate management and his contribution to the reconstruction of TEPCO, ravaged by the devastating Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant disaster, as an outside director.
