Top officials of TEPCO again said they plan to pursue a new business plan they hope will revive the utility from the man-made debacle it has confronted since 2011.
In his New Year’s address to employees, TEPCO Chairman Kazuhiko Shimokobe said, “This new business plan is expected to be endorsed by the government after the middle of this month…With you all, I will do my utmost to achieve it.”
The plan, submitted in December, will replace an earlier one that needed to be revamped in part because Tepco has been unable to restart the reactors at its idled Kashiwazaki-Kariwa plant in Niigata Prefecture.
