» TEPCO expects 1700 voluntary retirees by March 2014

TEPCO expects the cumulative number of voluntary retirees since the 2011 nuclear disaster to total 1,700 by the end of March 2014.

Employees from the business strategy division at TEPCO’s head office as well as nuclear engineers account for around 40 percent of the retirees, raising fears that the loss of personnel could affect the utility’s core activities.

Looking at the age distribution, junior and mid-level employees younger than 40 years old comprise around 70 percent of the total retirees.
