» Start Spend fuel removal work possiblily from Nov. 26

Work to remove spent fuel from a storage pool inside No.4 reactor building at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant will begin on Nov 26th at the earliest.

Fuel removal work started on Nov 18th, with workers first extracting 22 unused fuel assemblies that are relatively easier to handle than spent fuel.

The second batch of work involves removing 22 spent fuel rod assemblies. Eventually removing over 1,000 assemblies from the spent fuel pool of the No. 4 reactor will be yearlong project.
