Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida and his Ukrainian counterpart Leonid Kozhara agreed on Aug 26th that their countries will conduct a joint study of the environmental impacts of nuclear accidents.
At talks in Kiev, Kishida and Kozhara confirmed support for a University of Tokyo plan to use Ukrainian rockets to launch micro-satellites for the joint study. A total of eight micro-satellites will be launched to regularly take pictures of the two nuclear accident sites and receive ground observation data from instruments at the sites to observe the long-term environmental impacts.The joint study is expected to be launched next year.
