» Government will provide fund for the radioactive water problem

The Japanese government is planning to provide funds from tax to assist Tokyo Electric Power Co to stop radioactive water leaking at Fukushima plant by freezing the soil around the reactor buildings using liquid glass.

The Economy, Trade and Industry Ministry will request the costs in the fiscal 2014 budget. If the request is approved, it will be the first government funding to help TEPCO tackle the problem of contaminated water. The ministry believes state financial support is necessary because the method of freezing soil poses technical challenges and cost of the project is more than one company can bear.
