Kansai Electric Power Co., the owner of Oi nuclear power plant, has appealed a district court ruling against the restart of its two reactors to the Kanazawa branch of the Nagoya High Court.
While the Fukui District Court decided not to allow the restart of the Nos. 3 and 4 reactors at Kansai Electric’s Oi nuclear plant in Fukui Prefecture due to safety concerns, the utility said, “We could not have the court accept our argument. We will prove the safety (of the reactors) during the appeal trial.”
It is still possible for Kansai Electric to restart the reactors if the Nuclear Regulation Authority decides that they satisfy the government’s safety standards, before the ruling is finalized.
