» Osaka High court turned down a lawsuit seeking to suspend Oi nuclear power plant

The Osaka High Court turned down a lawsuit seeking to suspend the planned resumption of two reactors at the Oi nuclear power plant operated by Kansai Electric Power Co.

Responding to the suit filed by a group of residents in western Japan, Presiding Judge said, “It is inappropriate for a court to prevent the resumption before the Nuclear Regulation Authority decides whether to give a nod to the reactors.”

The Nos. 3 and 4 reactors at the Oi plant in Fukui Prefecture have been suspended since last September for regular checkups, and are now under examination to determine whether they can resume operations under Japan’s new safety standards.
