A group of the residents in Fukushima prefecture and evacuees who have left the prefecture is under the preparation to sue the government for failing to implement a law to support those affected by the nuclear crisis.
Twelve evacuees who voluntarily left the northeastern Japan prefecture and seven Fukushima residents claim that it is illegal for the Japanese government not to set basic guidelines and policy for implementing the Nuclear Victims Support Act and in order to provide various support to them, according to the lawyer Kenji Fukuda.
They will seek damages of 1 yen each in the suit to be filed Thursday with the Tokyo District Court. This is because their purpose of the lawsuit is to get public attention over this neglected situation.
